Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa received funding from the USDA for a new medical and dental clinic in Columbus City, Iowa. Carl A. Nelson & Company was engaged as construction manager at-risk during the early planning stages of the project, and provided the owner with programming, budgeting, a code study, and a schematic floor plan.
Carl A. Nelson & Company had a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $1,600,858 with the completed cost $75,152 (4.7%) below the GMP, resulting in savings to the Owner. The project was built through the winter and completed in approximately seven months.
The wood framed building was approximately 8,000 sf with brick veneer and cement board siding. The medical suite consists of one treatment room, six exam rooms, a lab, central nurse station, and other support spaces. The dental suite consists of five dental exam areas and support space.
“Of all my facility construction experiences, the experiences with Carl A. Nelson & Company have been far superior than with other firms.” — Ron Kemp, CEO, Community Health Centers of Southeastern Iowa, Inc.
