The Van Buren County Community School District selected Carl A. Nelson & Company in 2021 to be its Construction Manager Agent for a $6 million addition project at its junior/senior high school building to expand athletic and classroom facilities at the school. Work began in the summer of 2022, and following a winter break in the project to allow for delivery of equipment amid pandemic-related shortages, resumed in late winter 2023, with completion in the fall of that year.
The 21,500 SF addition includes a second gym, wrestling practice room and a mezzanine area with batting cages and a turf surface, plus two general-use classrooms, new restrooms and a new public entrance for activities.
In 2023, Van Buren County CSD contracted Carl A. Nelson & Company to perform a needs assessment and master planning process ahead of anticipated future facility improvements.
