In Moberly, Missouri, Carl A. Nelson & Company overcame a tight schedule and the elements to complete a 325,000 SF furniture distribution center facility for Heilig-Meyers.
“From a building pad in May to installing rack in August is a tremendous effort.” Heilig-Meyers Director of Construction Jerry D. Shapiro said of the project. “The fact that during that time Missouri experienced historical floods and rains makes this accomplishment extraordinary. The effort and attitudes of all of Nelson’s people and the ability to generate the subcontractor cooperation needed were quite exemplary. Without a doubt this Company exhibits a sense of cooperation and professionalism that most owners look for in a contractor.”
The facility, which included a distribution facility and regional repair center, utilized conventional structural steel and tilt-up concrete wall construction. CANCO later was chosen to erect a 152,000 SF addition to the Moberly facility. Combined 2020 project cost for the original building and the addition is $20.15 million.
